How does subscription detection work?

See every recurring charge automatically detected from your transaction history.

Avenue scans your transaction history and automatically identifies recurring charges — merchants that charge you in two or more consecutive months.

What you'll see at /subscriptions

  • Total estimated monthly recurring charge across all detected subscriptions
  • Count of recurring subscriptions and top merchants this month
  • A list of each recurring merchant with the monthly amount, category, and how many months it's been active
  • A 12-month bar chart showing your recurring spend trend over time
  • Top merchants ranked by total spend this month

How detection works

Any merchant that appears in your transactions in two or more consecutive months is flagged as recurring. The monthly charge is estimated from your most recent charge from that merchant.

Why a subscription might not appear

  • The merchant name varies between charges (common with PayPal or third-party billing).
  • The account it charges isn't connected to Avenue.
  • You were only charged once so far this year.

Finding forgotten subscriptions

Sort by months active to find subscriptions you may have forgotten. The average user has $200+ per year in charges they no longer actively use.
